Trash & recycling are picked up on Mondays

The City of Clarkson Valley contracts Republic Services to handle refuse collection.

2024 Holiday Schedule

Remaining Observed Holidays (2024):

  • Independence Day – 7/4/2024 – No change
  • Labor Day – 9/2/2024 – Service rescheduled 9/3/2024
  • Christmas Day – 12/25/2024 – No change
  • New Year’s Day – 1/1/2025 – No change

Holidays Not Observed

The following holidays will never affect the service schedule:

  • Martin Luther King Day
  • Presidents’ Day
  • Veterans Day

Timing & Placement of Containers

Solid waste, recycling and yard waste containers and bundles of tree waste shall be placed no sooner than 4:00 P.M. the day prior to pickup. The solid waste, recycling and yard waste containers shall be returned to their appropriate storage place no later than 12:00 Midnight on the day of collection.

Trash Collection and Disposal Generally (Ttl II – Ch 230 – Art I)

Christmas Tree Collection

  • Free of charge.
  • Collections take place on the first two Mondays in January.
  • If you do not contract for yard waste collection, call Republic Services to schedule pickup.
  • Trees exceeding 6 feet in height must be cut in half.

Yard Waste Service

  • $34.00 per quarter paid in monthly installments of $11.33
  • Examples of yard waste incldue grass clippings, leaves, branches, limbs, weeds, vines, garden plants, and Christmas trees
  • Tree trunks, roots, and shrubs with intact root balls are not considered eligible yard waste
  • No limit on number of bags/containers placed at the curb
  • Tree limbs less than 4 inches in diameter and less than 48 inches in length may be combined into bundles not to exceed 18 inches in diameter or 60 pounds in weight

White Goods

  • Picked up at the curb on Mondays by special request – call Republic Services no later than Friday to make arrangements
  • Examples of White Goods include major appliances such as refrigerators, stoves, washing machines, and microwaves
  • No charge for White Goods pickup

Bulk Rubbish

Ineligible Refuse

Republic Services will not pick up the following items:

  • New and/or used construction materials
  • Paint, oil, driveway sealants, or other hazardous materials
  • Cardboard boxes that have not been broken down

Recyclable Materials

  • Glass: Bottles and jars, rinsed with lids removed
  • Plastics: Soda bottles, milk jugs, and tinted detergent bottles, rinsed and flattened
  • Metals: Empty food and beverage, rinsed with labels removed
  • Paper: Newspapers including inserts, but no plastic sleeves or string ties. Junk mail, phone books, magazines, cereal boxes, cardboard, and paper grocery bags

Non-Recyclable Examples

  • Glass: Mirrors, window panes, light bulbs, china dishes, Pyrex, Corning Ware, or ceramics
  • Plastics: Motor oil containers, No. 6 plastic (Styrofoam), plastic grocery bags
  • Metals: Bulk aluminum or aluminum foil, window frames, lawn chairs
