BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS

Planning & Zoning Commission

This Commission serves as an advisory board to the Board of Aldermen with regard to rezoning requests. The Commission addresses such issues as revision of the zoning and subdivision ordinances, site plan review, and landscaping. Members of the Commission serve for a period of four (4) years and are appointed by the Mayor with approval by the Board of Aldermen. Currently, there are no vacant seats on the Planning & Zoning Commission.

Board of Adjustment

This Board is responsible for considering variances to the Zoning Ordinance of the City. Variance requests can include reducing yard setbacks, increasing the area of signs, or rebuilding legal non-conforming uses/structures which have been partially destroyed. Members serve for a period of five (5) years and are appointed by the Mayor with approval by the Board of Alderman. Currently, there are no vacant seats on the Board of Adjustment.

Architectural Review Board

The Architectural Review Board serves as an advisory and recommending body to the Planning & Zoning Commission. The Board reviews the architectural elements of proposed development projects against a set of established Architectural Review Design Standards to promote good quality architecture for commercial and residential development projects under review by the City. Members serve for an indefinite term and are appointed by the Mayor with approval by the Board of Aldermen.
