Woolpert,
Inc. has been contracted by the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD) to
inspect sewer lines throughout St. Louis County, including within your
community. This is an on-going
program to detect leaks within the sanitary sewer collection system.
The process will include manhole inspections, televising sewers, and
smoke testing. The field crews may
work at night and may need to access private property in order to perform their
work. Woolpert intends to begin
smoke testing in an area bounded by Herworth Dr. to the north, Bridgeport Dr. to
the east, Bridge Creek Trail to the south, and Hidden Creek Dr. to the west.
The smoke testing will begin on or around Monday, May 5, 2008 and will
continue for approximately six weeks.
Smoke
testing forces harmless smoke into the sanitary sewer.
Escaping smoke helps locate undesirable leaks throughout the sanitary
system. If residents have plumbing
traps that are dry, or if they have any prohibited connections, smoke may be
present within the homes. Notices
will be distributed to each resident before the testing occurs to proved
additional information on the testing and inspection.
The notices advise the residents to contact Woolpert with any questions
or concerns.
If you
have any questions, please contact Mr. Rick Olson or Mrs. Mita Garasia at
Woolpert – 314-436-0865. If you
wish to verify the legitimacy of the field crews in the area, you may contact
Mr. Robert Segar, P.E. at MSD – 314-768-6253.
Sincerely,
Rick
