RECORD OF PROCEEDING

Meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Clarkson Valley at City Hall (Fru-Con Center), July 3, 2012.

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. A roll call was taken with the following results:

Alderperson Schultz made a motion to accept the Minutes.  Alderperson Midyett seconded the motion.  A voice vote was taken to accept the Minutes with an affirmative result and the motion was declared passed.  

REMARKS, PETITIONS AND COMPLAINTS 

There were no remarks, petitions or complaints.   

REPORTS 

St. Louis County Police Report:  Officer Dave Steinmeyer handed out the June 2012 Police Report.   

Mayor’s Report 

Court Report:  The total amount collected for traffic fines and court costs for the month of June 2012 was $22,317.00.  

Budget:  Mayor Douglass explained that copies of the Budget have been distributed and will be discussed later at tonight's meeting.   

Web Site - Revised:  Mayor Douglass said that he is going to have something new added to the City's website to give residents updates as to what is currently happening in their city.  He said we are asking citizens for their input.  Other items me might look into, he said, is sending e-mails to residents to include something we've done in the past through newsletters informing citizens why there is a City of Clarkson Valley.  He concluded by asking for any thoughts one might have on the subject. 

Weeds Along Jersey Barrier:  Mayor Douglass reported that a resident of Ward 1 is complaining about the weeds at the concrete barrier along Clarkson Road north of the berm in front of Forest Hills Club Estates.   

Alderpersons' Reports 

Street Signs Askew:  Alderperson Schultz made a motion to accept the bid from Simple Signs to have street signs in the City straightened and/or replaced if the pole is found to be damaged.  Alderperson Midyett seconded the motion.  A voice vote was taken with a unanimous affirmative result and the motion was declared passed.   

Roofing Signs Removed:  Alderperson Schiller thanked Alderperson Schultz for doing the great job of calling all roofing companies with signs displayed on front lawns that were not doing work physically on properties in the Forest Hills Club Estates Subdivision.  She stated that perhaps mention should be made on the website that contractor's signs should not be on premises unless they are working on your property and that Trustees should be made aware as well.   

City Attorney's Report 

Mr. Butler reported the events that took place at the Cole County Court House regarding the solar energy system and the City had not received a ruling to date.   

UNFINISHED BUSINESS 

Sanitation Contract:  A motion was made by Alderperson Schultz to discuss the sanitation contract, seconded by Alderperson King.  The various bids were discussed.  Alderperson Schiller made a motion the City continues to contract for service with Meridian Waste.  Alderperson Schultz seconded the motion.  There was no further discussion.  A voice vote was taken with a unanimous affirmative result and the motion was declared passed.   

NEW BUSINESS 

2012-2013 Budget:  A motion was made by Alderperson King to pass the 2012-2013 Budget, seconded by Alderperson Schultz.  A voice vote was taken with a unanimous affirmative result and the motion was declared passed.   

Audit:  Alderperson Schiller made a motion to approve for payment invoices in the amount of $79,547.59, seconded by Alderperson Midyett.  A voice vote was taken with a unanimous affirmative result and the motion was declared passed.  

Alderperson Sittser made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Alderperson King.  A voice vote was taken with a unanimous affirmative result and the motion was declared passed.  The Meeting of the Board of Aldermen adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
