I wouldn’t dwell on the obvious – Summer is here! Time to be out and about – swimming, ball games, bar-b-que, etc. Having just recovered from this last winter’s brutal cold, I can’t complain about the heat – not yet, anyway. This is also the time of year for Garage/Estate sales. The City does not want to interfere with your plans, instead we want to help. How can we do that? To make the environment for the sale as safe as possible, our ordinance (Section 505.035) identifies the methods we have found to be helpful in this regard. A few simple steps are necessary. Call us (636-227-8693) for a permit (there is no charge for the permit). The application needs to be received seven days prior to the sale date. We will provide you with ‘No Parking’ signs to be placed on the opposite side of the street, nearest the residence having the sale at about 50 feet intervals. These signs are to be placed at least one (1) hour prior to the commencement of the sale. The sale shall not commence before 7:00 a.m. and cease operation at sunset. You are entitled to erect one sign on your premises and three (3) additional off-premises information or direction signs. Said signs shall not be erected any sooner than 24 hours prior to the commencement of the sale. Our police officers will be made aware and watch for any traffic or any other possible disruption. If an emergency does develop, call the police dispatch number 314-889-2341. You will be responsible for retrieving and otherwise taking down the temporary ‘No Parking’ signs within a two (2) hour period immediately following the termination of the sale. We suggest that you talk to your neighbor to let them know about the sale.
Talking about streets and traffic—remember, when walking ‘Fido’, walk on the left side of the street facing the traffic.
